BOXER 250RS ALIVE AND KICKING

TechnicalTiger Boxer 250RS Electrical failure in Bangkok.....
WAS ONLY BUT A BASIC WIRE ACCIDENTALLY DISCONNECTED

by Frank V & Panitda Hongchan

Dear Khun P.,

First of all, thanks for your kind phone support last night.
Second, NO NEED to send any technician to fix the problem as I solved it by myself fortunately.

Third....ok, here is how it went yesterday night with our beloved Tiger Boxer 250RS:

After hanging up the phone with you I tried a few more times to push-starting the bike.

No way, it did not react at all.
So, I pushed the bike further to Kao San Rd main police office intending to leave it parked there,
as you Khun P. had earlier on the phone suggested.

When we arrived there however, not ready to give in so easily....we asked gently the police officers whether they had a screw driver
so that I could open the plastic protection on the side and
look into the battery and electrical section beneath it.

The answer was surprisingly: "No we don't have a screw driver here".
Strange answer for an important Police station as that one in Kao San Rd. area... wouldn't one think?

Anyway, the second question for them it was whether they could keep an eye on the Boxer
during the coming night and until the morning after, when, as you Khun P. had said, some Tiger technicians would come and
fix the problem.

The answer from one of the police officers was so vague and untrustable that we realised that leaving the bike there
"under their authoritative supervision" would have not been the best of options.

So, we thought that maybe trying and asking for some friends' help would have been the best solution and,
so we did, we dialled the number of a friend whom we knew to have a large truck and, there he came as rapid as a rocket,...
after only 10mins waiting.

So, after gently loading the Boxer on the truck and safely securing it with a couple of ropes,
we carefully drove back to our home.

Unloading the bike from the truck and pushing it further into our front parking place was the easiest of the
things we had experienced till that moment... in this unpredictable and adventurous night.

However, the story goes on and....there I am, with the Boxer parked and me staring at it in wonder.
I could not help but think:
"What have I done to you for treating me like this tonight, my dear Boxer?"
(I forgot to say that during my first attempt to start the engine, earlier that night, I had been
kept company by an horrible black cat that did not stop turning around us and the bike...maybe expecting us to feed him god knows what food or drinks.
For a not superstition person as I am, thinking that that black cat was bringing bad luck wasn't a natural thing to do, ....but still...
what did that cat want from us in such a moment if not bringing us the worst of hell on earth?
;-)

Anyway, back home time was running fast and although our bed was waiting for us to rest,
my senses told me that it was not late enough for giving my basic
electrical skills a second and most proper try.

So, I grabbed a screwdriver I open the plastic protection on the side and
there a saw a number of these wires connecting parts and fuses and battery and other remote divices.
I started to open, to unwrap tapes, to touch, to detouch, connect and disconnect, control all the fuses, etc...and
reconnected everything back to origins again.

After this process, I picked up the key I inserted it into its regular slot and....surprise surprise...the lights go on.
And, as I turn the key to test-start the engine...a wonderful and very familiar roaring sound arises in the air,
clanging and resounding in the obscurity of the night...

The BOXER IS ALIVE AGAIN!!!

No fixing needed anymore.
;-)

Soon another report that we hope will be more exciting than this.

Talk to you soon and for now our

Best regards,

Frank V |
