I ride a cub Honda and was about to change when just by accident I got onto a MOMOS thread in our local forum/club http://malaysianbikers.com.my . After reading about the MOMOS bikes being sold here and also the plan to start the 250RS in about two weeks, i searched and found this group.
After reading the reviews of the 250RS, it sounds like this should be my next bike instead of another cub and Im happy there is a forum devoted to the Boxer so I can learn more.
Some of you who already have the 250RS, you might consider joining our forum to add your two cents and keep updates coming about your experience on the bike. And given that Malaysian riders go into Thailand often it makes sense to meet new moto-brothers, particularly those who will no doubt being buying this bike soon. Hope nobody minds I posted pics from this group onto our MOMOS thread, people are eager for info.
The Thai and Malaysian models are the same, no changes. No word on colors yet, perhaps the same as well. MOMOS is having an Open Test Ride day 9 April and invited everyone to try out the 250RS. None are in dealers yet, as far as I know. The price is THB96,970...how does that compare with yours?

The Tiger Boxer 250 RS costs in Thailand something around 72,000 Baht, but what I can remember of the Momos Boxer 200 SE, which was also more expensive then it Thai Tiger counter-part, the Momos Boxer 200 SE was equipped with a bit more accessories. So had the Momos 200 SE already the fancy full aluminum rear swingarm... There where more differences which now escape me...
Take a test ride and you will know the difference... It is a great motorcycle..

Thanks both.
I see quite a bit less cost in Thailand....one more reason to move?
Are you both familiar with the Momos 200? Im not, and I had an email from a friend who said the Momos had low speed, cheap plastic and alot of vibration.
Comments in comparsion with the 250?

Hi Charles,
I really would like to know where you got your info from.
Cheap plastic. ? The mudguard and other fenders are made out of thick strong plastic. . a few days i got hit from a car there wasnt even a dent in my bike . Cant say that from my so cold superior Japanese bike .......
vibration ? not more then any other single cylinder by the way very torquey engine always nice feeling to leave other bikes behind
reliability ? 16000 trouble free kms
fuel consumption ? economical bike 1l/ 30
Great looks
These are my own experiences with the Boxer 250. Nothing like someone told me ..... or i've heard .....

Hi folks, remember me? Im still around.
When we left off, i was on my way to contact the nice fellow at Tiger and I did. He is very patient and professional and answered all my questions. Even though his replies caused me to decide not to buy at that time, i remain interested and hope the best for Tiger.
Here in Malaysia, im not personally aware of any sales of Boxer since the launch last year. I appear to be the only person I know who has any interest. Since the crews who sweep the highways for damage use Boxers, i imagine and suppose the primary sales taking place are to govt, not average riders.
In the adjacent thread about spare parts, one of the problems can be seen, that Momos isnt prepared well to deal with parts and service which has been a large problem since the 200cc version was introduced and caused riders to feel low about the company. Promises to change this situation have not occurred, according to that adjacent post. I havent seen any dealers or riders of the Boxer 250. It would seem that people living in Thailand have much better access to service and Boxer might be an ideal bike to have if the customer is planted there.
Im certainly not a Boxer pro, just a potential customer when I see further development and refinement of the bikes and service system. A year ago, Tigers replies to my questions caused me to decide to buy a different bike, which i did, but i remain open to Boxer and will continue to watch for news.
